Getting started with Lava is pretty straight forward. First, grab a copy of the script from the Downloads section. Once you have the script, you can begin using it in a web page. Lava uses custom tags for templating. The default prefix for custom tags is

<lava:tagname />

You can change this to another prefix by modifying the lava namespace. For example, to change the prefix to "l" you would add the following namespace to the html tag:

<html xmlns:l="">

Below is a boilerplate html page for use with Lava:

<!DOCTYPE html>
<html xmlns:lava="">
        <script src="../scripts/lava-min.js" type="text/javascript"></script>
        <script type="text/javascript">
